Every year, in June, the peaceful seaside village of Dalkey turns into a lively literary center on the occasion of the Dalkey Book Festival.
Visitors flock to Dalkey for its beautiful coastal architecture, stunning views of Dalkey Island from Coliemore Harbour and the warm village atmosphere. Dalkey is also the birthplace of George Bernard Shaw and has a rich artistic heritage, making it an ideal location for a literary festival dedicated to books and ideas.
Among the famous novelists who participated in previous years were Salman Rushdie, Joseph O’Connor, John Banville and Sebastian Barry. In addition to literary legends, book enthusiasts from all over Ireland and around the world participate in this weekend-long event. Even Bono, the singer of U2, who owns a house in the village, made an appearance at the festival last year
